The Transportation of the West Museum, located on the East side of the historic Fassett Building, incorporates early modes of transportation used in the San Luis Valley from the floor of the valley to the mining camps. Items on display include those of the horse and buggy days, the 1880s-1900s railroad, farming, sports, and numerous photographs.

Travel through the years of change in transportation by viewing the many captioned photographs provided by the Monte Vista Historical Society. The history of transportation in the West form the 1880s through the 1930s comes alive through these pictures. The Monte Vista Urban Renewal Authority welcomes you to visit this museum and other sites in and around Monte Vista.

While in town make sure to stop by the
Monte Vista History Museum just around the corner and the Homelake Veterans' History Museum (just east of town).
