Unique Basket
From Southern Panama

This beautiful basket was made by the Woonan, a Tribe from the Darien area of southern Panama.

There are 38 birds depicted on the basket, which was intricately crafted from colored native materials.

The collection represents art and artifacts focusing on Native American cultures, particularly of the Southwest, as well as Asian, African, and Oriental native art.

The American Indian Collection includes Navajo rugs, wedding baskets, Hopi and Salish basketry, Nez Perce beadwork, Kachinas, and Aleut walrus tusk carvings from Alaska.
